Japan's Mix of MOdernity and Tradition Brought to us by Try The World

One of the many enjoyable perks of traveling is being able to try different cuisines from different places that you visit.  However, it can be very expensive to travel all the time but  luckily, there is a service that would  bring  the world right to your door steps.  Try the World has the perfect idea of bringing different   kind of foods from around the world to your home through their  monthly subscrion box.   The last one I received from them is the introduction to the Argentine culture. This time, it is Japan's mix of modernity  and tradition.
My husband has been to Japan multiple times when he was still in the Navy so I thought  it was perfect to make him this savory pancakes  for Father's Day breakfast.  The mix included everything that you need (flavor-wise), all you need to add is egg, veggies, and bacon or pork.  It was my first time  trying a savory pancake and I'd say that I liked it!  In fact, I want one more  of this okomiyaki kit!

Another goodie in the box is  the blueberry matcha tea, known as the finest green tea in the world..  I haven't tried this tea yet as I am currently using a different one but I have seen a cookie recipe with matcha tea so I wikll try that soon!
I have been using this Wadakan Umami Ponszu sauce and loving it.  This sweet, salty, and tangy sauce  is made  with citrus and soy sauce which is perfect for  dressing frilled  meat or fish.  YOu can also use it as a dipping sauce or salad dressing, just whisk it into  oil to thicken, then toss with cold noodles.
I made these Grilled Shrimp Kebabs a few weeks ago and it turned out extra delicious using the  sauce as a marinade  before  frilling it.

We are a big fan of seafood here at home so I  usually cook fish or shrimp.  These  grilled salmon tasted so delicious.  I marinated it using the sauce  before   grilling them.

I have never had soba noodles made with yam and wheat so I got curious with this one.  I had yakisoba before and loved it so I thought this soba noodles would be good as the yakisoba.
You can check out the soba noodles recipe that I did for thisone.  It was delicious!

This Kasugai, fummy candies are  delicious as well.  That's probably because I love lychee fruit.  My kids  never had lychee so they did not like the taste of this.  It was alright as I got to  consume  this for myself lol.
My kids love seaweed snack.  We usually buy this at the Asian store down in Pittsburgh and  it doesn't last very long because it's a great thing to use for wraps.

They love it for school lunches so I usually made this kind of lunch for them during school days.

Mr. Burrito's makizushi  with oranges for dessert
These milk caramels were delicious.  My kids got addicted to it.  I brought it  in my bag and  my son found it, he ate most of it while  in mass!  Now they want more.
