Thank You God!

The Couple's Corner's theme for this week coincides with the US traditional holiday which is the Thanksgiving.  So what are we thankful for?

First of all, I thank God that  He make my life hard when I was growing up.  You may not believe it but it's true.  Of course back then, I did not appreciate the kind of life that I had but now that I am old, I realized that God has a good plan for me.  

I always thank God that He gave me a man that is loving, responsible, kind, and understanding.

I thank the Lord that He gave us an opportunity to be with my family in the Philippines.  That my children  were able to  bond with my family and  were able to experience  how it is to live there.

.... Friends wo understands and stick to you through thick and thin...

Thank you for  leading me to a friend who  taught me how to blog, with that I made a lot of online friends.  Thank you for everything!

Glimpse to the Future

Okay, I admit, I am a bit late again.  I remember when John talk about meeting me in person, I started imagining what would be my future if he  pursue on getting serious with me.  I was excited and at the same time  scared because I wasn't sure if I would survive living in other place other than Bicol lol.  Heck, even going to Manila I was always nervous.  I mean, I   love to travel but I have to be with other people.l  Anyhow,  I listen to my instinct and  let fate decide what is in store for us in the future.  

My first  glimpse actually was having a baby and living in the Philippines still lol.  I think it's because I never expect for  him to really get serious with me considering the kind of life that I have.  Before I met John, I  communicated with other guy online, his name was John too and he was from Atlanta.  When I told him about  my family, he immediately quit writing to me so that's why I never expected  the second John to  take me seriously.  But I am glad that we gave each other a try.  

Mutual Decision

Hubby and I respect each other so whatever it is that we have to decide, we talk about it, weigh the pros and cons, and decide after wards. Even when I was still in the Philippines, he would ask me before deciding on stuff. Unless it is a gift that he want to give me, he won't ask lol. Now that we're together, it's always us that decides not just him or me.  I feel guilty sometimes because  I always say NOn especially if I know that we can live without it.  I always say YES though  for the things that we need.  Overall, I can say that my YES depends on the situation, how about you? I Like, He Dislikes and Vice Versa

Yeah know, I am late again but what can I do lol. It's our anniversary today for heaven sake hahaha, I shouldn't be blogging anyway but I am an addict lol.

But anyhow, the topic for this week's Couple's Corner is Like and Dislikes.

So let us see:

• I like bagoong, he dislikes it
• I like having sabaw in every meal, he dislikes it if it's everyday lol
• I like folding clothes, he dislikes/hates it. He still does it though pag may topak ako lol
• I like reading pocketbooks, he dislikes it.
• I like banana mashed fritters, he doesn't but he likes the maruya and toron
• I like bloghopping, he dislikes it (he has to be in the mood to bloghop)
• He likes to talk when he is mad, I don't
• He likes driving, I don't
• He likes going somewhere everyday, I seldom do (kakasawa pag araw araw, nababawasan blogging time ko wahahahha)
• He likes to use sarcasm for a joke, I hate it.

Those are the silly things that the Cottrill's has. Hope you guys are having a great day. I am having a dysmenorrhea wahhh, what a anniversary present.

Couple's Talents

The topic for this week's Couple's Corner is about talent. Hmmmnn, let's see, I think I don't qualify for this as I don't have any talent at all lol. Hubby on the other hand has quite of them. He can be a stand up comedian as he is full of humor. He can strum guitar and beat the drums ( he used to be a band member). He can draw with ease while I can't lol. Good thing the kids got that trait from him. Other than that he is pretty much skillful around the house, he is a handy man, except he hates plumbing works. I married my Knight!

When my father got addicted to drinking too much alcohol, the scene in our house when he's drunk is undesirable. My parents were always arguing about every little thing. So growing up, I promised myself that I would never marry a man that has drinking problem. Most of the guys that I dated then are all free from alcohol problem. Another thing that I dream of a man to marry was someone that has a permanent job that could sustain a family. I did not dream of marrying a rich or handsome man, for me as long as I love him and he loves me back, that would be it.

Who would have thought that God will give me more than what I asked for. Never in my imagination marrying a foreigner lol. It's funny because when I was in elementary, all I wanted is to be able to learn how to speak tagalog so I could go to Manila and work there. See, God is great because He granted me a chance to learn how to speak English. I am not fluent in English lingo but at least I could communicate well to my husband and kids lol.

First Impression with My In-Laws

Meeting my in-laws for the first is nerve wracking. I did not know what to think but I rely on my husband's stories about them and true enough, they are very down -to-earth person and free spirited. I think, when I was still in Pinas, single and asking God why nobody is taking me seriously, God probably told me "Rose, just wait for the right person alright?" I am glad that I met that right person, because his family is way way more than I ever expected.

Let's start with Jen, she is my sister-in-law's only daughter. She was the one I first met at the airport because she fetched me and John when we arrived. She is really really nice and I felt that right away in our first meeting.

Then when we arrived home, they introduced me to Chris, my SIL. My SIL is a very nice, generous, loving, kind person you could ever meet. When I was pregnant, she was the one taking me to the doctor when John couldn't make it. Then she also accompanied me a couple of times during Rylie's pedia appointment. I feel bad because the employees there called her Rylie's grandma before, sorry about that Chris. But I told them that Chris is my SIL.

My Brothers-in-law are really nice too. I am more comfortable talking with John's eldest brother Dave because he is very outgoing and very friendly. My Bil Rick is also nice but he is very opinionated hehehe. So I kinda always watch out what I tell him lol. Their wives are super nice too!

Lastly, I couldn't ask for more because my FIL is the best FIL you could ever have. He is a great father to them and he treats me like one of his real kids. Thanks Dad! so there's my first impression.

Meeting our Fathers

When John first came to see me, my father was so excited. I specifically asked him not to drink but he was drunk when we arrived anyway lol. My father was brave to deal with things when he was in the spirit of ginebra or beer. He wasn't shy to entertain John even if it meant that I had to translate what he wanted to tell him. He helped us get ready with the things we need for us to get marry on John's second visit. Unfortunately he did not make it till our wedding, he died the day on our arrival in Bicol. It was tragic and still painful for me but I have to accept that maybe it's meant to be. I miss you Papa!

Meeting my father-in-law was an exciting moment for me and at the same nerve wracking as I was scared that he might not like me. But all my worries went away when I finally met him as he was a very loving Dad. I love my father-in-law, he treats me as his won daughter and he is a role model that I want us (me and John) to be when we grow old. Dad Jennings is a very loyal husband, he never fail to visit my MIL's tomb every so often.
