Laing (Taro Leaves) and More - Project 365 # 44

We received three packages last Monday.  One from a close friend in the Philippines and two were from our neighbor, it's a valentine presents/treats for the kids.
Mr. Burrito was so delighted upon seeing the stickers and the pez.  Thanks to the Howells family.
And Mommy was so happy seeing the taro leaves and different kinds of  cooking mix.  Thanks a lot Ate Chay!  I am so sorry to hear about what happened to your daughter's boarding house.  We'll be praying for ya!
I immediately cooked the dried taro leaves, yeah baby, it's laing time!  Instead of  using  pork, I used dried dilis (anchovies), sliced a lot of hot Thai peppers, some ginger, bagoong (shrimp paste), shallot, garlic, and coconut milk (2 cans).  Oh boy, I am craving this for a long time.  Anyone wants some of my delicious laing?
January 13, 2011:

  • Hubby cooked breakfast today and he also cleaned the dishes after we ate, thanks Hon!
  • I just got done vacuuming and straighten some things up in the house.  Now the kids are starting to scatter toys again wahhh.  Oh well.
  • We  are  going to church at noon and  proceed to cemetery afterwards with my FIL.  Today is  my late MIL's birthday and Dad wants to pay her a visit so we are accompanying him.  I admire the love that my FIL has for his late wife, it's very inspiring.
  • Will do laundry later
Are you up to the challenge on posting a photo a day?
Always remember....

that a little bit of this
and a little dash of that
makes a sumptuous life..

  2. Oh wow, laing is my top favorite vegetable dish. I love laing cooked by a homegrown Bicolana, hehehe. Maraming laing dito sa Bulacan pero hindi kasing sarap nang authentic Bicolano laing. One of my dreams is to visit Donsol, Sorsogon to see the butanding, do some deep sea fishing and taste your laing and Bicol express. Hay naku, kailan kaya yun? Thanks for the yummy post. God bless you all always.

  10. I visited my Mum at the cemetery a couple of weeks ago. I t is always like a family outing as my Mum, Godmother and my Grandmother are all in the same spot. My mother-in-law is just a few steps away with her sister and brother-in-law. I often wonder if they get together for a chat :) Diane
