Chocolate Chunk Cookie Cake - P365 # 183

We attended a pre-4th of July celebration over at my BIL's home in Chester, WV. We had a blast swimming in the pool.  I wasn't in the mood to cook anything to bring at the party so we just bought this Chocolate Chunk Cookie Cake with Icing  from Walmart.
My niece-in-law brought a cake with similar  design.  She bought it from Kroger's.

Recycling - P365 # 135

My FIL is growing some lettuce and used the empty vac  base to put the soil.  Notice the crown royal stand? Dad doesn't throw stuff, he RECYCLES  them.  See he uses the stand to  hold up the  screen from  flying off.
In few more days, these will be ready for transplanting.  Do you recycle too?
May 17, 2011:
  • I am doing laundry today.
  • Hubby is killing himself with his rigorous work out hehehe.  He is determined to lose weight.  Go go go hon!
  • I will do my share of work out when Lady in Red is done.
  • Meanwhile I am contemplating if I will order a photo poster of my daughter's favorite star to put in her bedroom or not.
Have a good day everyone.  Thanks for leaving your thoughts and spicing up my blog.

Ruby Kitchen Wares - P365 # 101

I was browsing at my folders and came across this shot that I took at Macy's last Christmas.
April 11, 2011:
  • Oh boy, it's past five pm already?  I didn't realize the time went that fast.  Yesterday and today  are the busiest in our family.  We tasted the first warm day yesterday so we spent the whole day outside.  We assembled the trampoline which took me and my husband 3 hours to finish.
  • After me and my son ate our breakfast, we went outside our backyard.  He played in the trampoline while I did gardening.  I was able to prepare my vegetable garden and spread out  the seeds.  I did  some digging using the maddock so now I am so sore.  My hands have blisters too arrggghh.  I felt good though because I haven't had any workout for a long time.
  • My son helped me gardening today, he was digging and picking up all the earthworm and gave it to the  birds.
  • I made beef steak and mashed potatoes for dinner.
  • Ms. Burrito came home with a swollen left eye and a lot of discharge.  I think she has a pink eye wahhhh.  She might miss school tomorrow so we could bring her to the doctor.

Lazy Days Means Pizza Days - P365 # 93

Whenever I am not in the mood to cook, we would end up having pizza for dinner.
We always order the specials at Domino's which is $5.99 each medium heavy topping pizza if you buy two.
Hubby and I always get the ham and pineapple with a heavy hot peppers in it.
We get the kids the peperoni and black olives.
Then just cuddling up with each other after we ate and watch TV.
Mr. Burrito doesn't want to be photographed so he isn't included in here hehehe. He was the one taking the photos.
April 3, 2011:

Bulalo Supreme - P365 # 87

When I was still in the Philippines, I used to have a stack of these in the kitchen cabinet of my apartment. Whenever I am lazy to cook, I just make one of this.  I even served it to hubby when he first  came over to see me lol.
He saw this at the oriental store so he grabbed one.
He said he couldn't remember where he  ate one of these and I just smiled lol.
Anyhow, I cooked it the other day as the lazy bug in me attacked.
I added fresh napa cabbage and scallions   in it and it was delish!
March 28, 2011:

  • Ms.  Burrito's school has a State test today so she went to bed early to have a lot of rest before the test.  Good luck to all the students, to you Ms. Burrito, and to the school.
  • It is is below freezing over here (24 degrees brrr).  Hope the temperature will warm up  before I get Ms. Burrito so we wont freeze our butts off hehehe.
  • Please include my brother-in-law- Dave in your prayer friends,  the doctor has detected  something in his system that looks like a tumor (I am praying that it isn't).

Fresh Fruits - Project 365 # 3

In the country where I came from, fruits  is a  common thing in the dining or kitchen  table.  When I came here in the States, I see lots of cookies, cakes and other sweets but rarely see fruits.  Hubby and I make sure to have fruits in the table so that the kids   can eat fruits 9instead of sweets when they want a snack or something to munch  on while watching TV.

January 3, 2011:
  • Ms. Burrito went back to school today, she was excited to go back but she's not loving the  waking up early and getting out in the cold.
  • Hubby and I, with the help of Mr. Burrito cleaned the car for inspection.
  • Hubby took the car for inspection and got the sticker for it.
  • He went to  help Jim fixing the house.
  • We have Bumble Bee today for an hour (3-4 pm).  I felt bad because she was in agony from the vaccine shots that she received today.
  • I gave Champ a bath while doing the laundry.
  • We received the package... magic sing karaoke mic that hubby bought on eBay.

A Salute for those who SERVE!

My kids and I are very proud of Daddy for his 20 years of services in the navy. Hubby and make sure to instill in their young minds that we should value all the men and women who served and serving the military especially those who gave their own lives just to protect the country.  Our son EJ  sometimes think that he want to be like Daddy too but we are not sure of it as he seems to have a flat feet hehehe.  But anyhow, he love walking around the house with his Dad's hat on.
While EJ is showing his love  for Daddy by wearing his hat all the time, Rylie shows her love by being loyal  to him with the foods especially the sweet treats he prefers hehehe.
She love it when Daddy make jello for her.  That's her favorite dessert to bring in school, that and fruits.

Tomato Juice

My kids absolutely love their Pap.  We visit him almost everyday and their day isn't complete if we don't.  Last Saturday, we went there because  him and my daughter had plan of making tomato juice.  This is the second time they did it.  The first time was a couple of weeks ago with EJ (will post it next time).
For me personally, I preferred canning tomato sauce than juice because with the former, you do not throw any parts of the tomato but with the latter, you throw away some of the meat after the juicewas extracted.
But anyhow, my role is to clean the tomatoes, remove the core out and slice them.
The rest was done with our little princess who love to do these things.
She was singing while cranking the the thing.
Can you tell how much she enjoys it?
Making tomato juice is fun but messy lol.
After that, Pap did  sterelized the bottles and lids then he boiled the juice and caned them.

Hot & Sweet Peppers

A couple of years ago, our neighbor gave us some hot peppers. I saved the seeds and planted them this year. I thought I won't get any fruit because I planted them a little late but now, I have lots of them. I am worried that some of them may not mature and get caught by the cold season.

I freeze most of the ripe ones I got from the garden, so I would have enough to use during freezing months. I think I would do this every year so I won't have to buy plants from the store for my garden.

Our neighbor just gave me some sweet peppers and cherry tomatoes as well as big ones the other day. If you need some peppers and tomatoes, come at our home and I'll give you some hehehe.

Fresh Tomatoes

Every time we visit my father-in-law, me and daughter always go to his garden and picked some ripe tomatoes. He has lots of them there. He already canned 15 quarts of his harvest. I love canned tomatoes because is pretty good during winter on chili and other dishes such as lasagna and spaghetti.
Parenting Tip of the Day (a newsletter I received from parents.com).

Kids should get no more than 40 grams of fat, 1500 milligrams of sodium, and 32 grams of sugar a day. Additives that lurk -- even in snacks you’ve always considered “healthy” -- can push kids over those daily limits. We’ve decoded labels on seven staple foods: yogurt, crackers, dried fruit, cereal, oatmeal packets, wheat bread, and deli turkey.

Gardening on the Weekend

Our weekend was pretty busy. Hubby spent his weekend installing the new shutters that he ordered online. Our old ones fell off when we were in Korea so we have to replace them. He wasn't able to finish it since the one package they sent was incomplete, so we have to wait till the additional parts arrive. I did some gardening with the kids, I removed the old petals of my rose in front of the house.
Roses provide beauty even when the flowers fell off already.
While doing my gardening, my son relaxes in front of the garage using the folding chair that Pap gave them.

Then we visited my FIL afterwards. I baked some shrimp pop corn for snack.

How was your weekend folks?
